Shay Mitchell is a Canadian actor, model and entrepreneur. Her most well-known character is Emily Fields on the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. When she was a pro at dancing and modelling, she wanted to take on acting and began attending acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell was offered a few commercials as well as guest spots in a television show. Her biggest break came when she was filmed in the role of Emily Fields. The acting abilities of her character were highly praised by both critics and fans. She then made her mark in the film industry with such movies as DreamlandMother's Dayand The Posession of Hannah Grace. Her name gained more attention for her role in the psychological drama series You. In addition to acting, she was a writer. Together with Michaela Blaney she wrote an adult book titled Bliss. Shay Mitchell was raised in Ontario with her parents Mark Mitchell & Precious Gonzalez. Her birth date was 10th April, 1987. Her mother is Filipina and her father is of Irish and Scottish heritage. Mitchell is also the cousin of Lea Salonga, a famed musician and musical theater actor. Mitchell went to Rockridge Secondary, before switching to West Vancouver Secondary. At the end of her teenage years, she had modeled for a variety of companies across the world. She traveled across the world to Barcelona Bangkok Hong Kong before eventually returning to her home country and studying acting in Toronto.
