Annette O'Toole grew up in the Houston dance studio owned by the mother of her. As a toddler she appeared on television for the first time when she was two. When she was 13, with ten years of singing and dancing classes behind her, she and her mother travelled on a journey to L.A. for a year in order to test whether she was able to have a career in show business. Within two months she landed her first pay job. singing in the Danny Kaye Show with Danny Kaye. "I've made use of my dance and singing training in a variety of ways," she says. "The discipline you get from that is wonderful as an actor." O'Toole's debut acting gig was My Three Sons, followed with appearances on Gunsmoke, The Partridge Family, The Mod Squad, as well as Hawaii Five-O. The most important thing that O'Toole loves, in spite of her successes in film and on television has been theatre. She decided, after her six year run on Smallville was over, to concentrate on theater exclusively. That's what she has been doing since the beginning of this decade. She made the trip to New York and her first audition resulted in her being included in The Sea Gull. She's been in numerous Off-Broadway plays, including Adam Rapp's Kindness, and Tracy Letts' Man from Nebraska.
